Forts of Lonavala & Khandala


Extremely of Rajmachi
On the way with Mumbai to Pune, you find the point of Rajmachi, where there is a garden. This place is known as not Rajmachi because with respect to this is the strong history of Rajmachi. The fort of Rajmachi can be approach only with foot. It is surrounded by deep valleys on three sides and a thick forest on a side. There there are three manners of reaching (1) Lonavala by the village and the dam Tungarli. There is a small right-hand turn here which must be avoided and takes a turn on the left to reach the fort.
(2) on the railway route, reach to the bottom the station of thakurwadi, cross a place called the Indian millet of Palas and reach Rajmachi
(3) of Karjat the city one can immediately reach Rajmachi. This fort is very old, it probably belongs to the period of yadav because there is the fort two attache with him with knowing
(A) Shrivardhan (b) Manoranjan.
Yadava 'use of S to call their forts in this manner, the ancient Buddhist caves prove that these forts are ancient. The fort of Rajmachi is 10 kms starting from Lonavala and one can travel by the thick forests and the deep valleys on the way.

Shrivardhan

The fort in the east of Rajmachi is known like fort of Shrivardhan. Between Shrivardhan and Manoranjan, there is an old temple of Shri Bhairavnath. There are posts of guards at the entry of the fort of Shrivardhan. The entry is semicircular in the form so that it is not easy to place. A little other there is cave belonging to the period of Buddha. The remaining part of construction is however in the model of Maratha. This can be made outside starting from Ganesha on the door. There are two enormous water tanks on this fort. Both have water all the year. One of them is close to the caves and the others close to the fort. At an end there are residences of the people remaining on the fort and the other end for the guards. Lohagad, Visapur, Tungi, Korigad, Nagfani etc Can be seen from here.

Extremely of Manoranjan

Manoranjan can be approximate road behind the temple of Bhairavnath. The entry is in a state of ruin and the houses of guards and the ammunition dumps on the fort can only be seen. There is square lake of the water, which is filled of clean water all the year. A divided right rock this lake in two shares and the person knowing this place can go by him. The station of Khandala can be seen from here. Without counting that the fort at Faded, Karnala, Matheran, Nagfani etc can also be considering.

Extremely of Visapur

This fort is located at the east of the fort of Lohagad and it has an enormous plate to surround it. The fort is famous for its protective walls with complex designs. These walls and designs remained in fine shapes even after centuries of coating of the torrential rains. The guard of fort the 'residence of S in the forest in the center is in the ruins. Right-sided one can still see the turret of gun. This turret is made of copper. Unfortunately, it is absent today. There is a passage of 1 - 15 parts of the thousand between the forts of Visapur and Lohagad. This semicircular passage can be seen bridge of railroad at the station of Lonavala. According to a legend, a courageous woman is supposed to have crossed this valley on a cord.

Extremely of Lohagad

This fort belongs to Shivaji at 'period of S and is 10 kms of Lonavala. It was employed to maintain prisoners in the year 1564. Shivaji Maharaj gained this fort in 1670 in the year 1751, Gaikwad and the family of Dabhade was imprisoned in this fort. First door of Delhi - the entry of the fort of Lohagad is a spectacular sight. There are three doors after the other. The third door particularly is very exquisite. On writing this third door one reaches keeps it the 'post of S. There is provision to place guns here. This door is built in such a way that the shooting of the doors above reaches the enemy with the first door. There is an enormous cave apart from the fort. This cave would be employed to store grains during the rain season. There is a tomb here as well as Shivlinga. Beside that there is a water tank with the soft taste. On the fort there is more place where water would be stored for the use. It east suppose to have been Nanasaheb built Phadnis. There is a plate but the writing cannot be read more. The particular design on the walls of the fort is known like Vindhukata (hooks of a scorpion). It is said to him that Shivaji Maharaj had kept the treasures which it plundered of Surat in this fort for a certain period.

Extremely of Tunga

A rock boring the horizon can be seen in the south of Lohagad, this is strong of Tunga. Edges of dam Pavana it. This fort can be approach in the motor boat for the dam Pavana. It is a stiff fort to rise. It is a narrow fort with the slipping roads to rise. There is a temple of Mahadeo on the fort. During Shivaji of 'period of S, this fort was use to exert a monitoring on the other forts.
